What is Oil Pulling?

Oil pulling is an Ayurvedic remedy that has been around for thousands of years.  In order to oil pull, place a tablespoon of oil in your mouth, then swish it around for 15-20 minutes.  The main benefit of doing this is that it reduces the amount of harmful bacteria in the mouth.  There are actually thousands of different types of bacteria in the mouth. Some of these bacteria are friendly, while others are not.  The bacteria in the mouth create a “biofilm” on the teeth – also known as “plaque”.  The way oil pulling works is simple. When you swish the oil around your mouth, the bacteria “get stuck” in it and dissolve in the liquid oil.  You will remove a large amount of the bacteria and plaque in your mouth each time you do this.

Oil pulling has many benefits.  Among them are: whiter teeth, clearer skin, improved overall oral health, body detox, and increased energy.

The 'single-use' packets are ideal to keep in the bathroom, within reach.  This saves time during your already busy morning routine.  In addition to the added convenience, the packets are easy to warm up by running under warm water to melt the coconut oil.  The liquified coconut oil makes oil pulling more palatable.

It is important to NOT dispose of the oil in the sink or toilet.  This may cause pipe damage.  Dispose of oil  in trash.
